Well, after several years of toying with the idea, Leslie and I have finally decided to depart the Baptist church and join the Presbyterian Church in America.
My last day at my current church will be this Friday. After that I will be unemployed until July 1st, when I am hoping to begin the pastoral internship at Park Cities Presbyterian Church here in Dallas. This internship is a requirement for ordination in the PCA and lasts a year. So Leslie and I will not be moving (again, assuming I get into the internship) before late spring/early summer 2008 at the earliest.
I won't go into all the reasons for the change here. If you are interested, you can visit the faith and practice forum and read about it in the Round Table section. The thread is called "From SBC to PCA." In this thread I lay it all out pretty clearly.
We're excited about the move and can't wait to begin worshiping with our new church family at PCPC! If you're curious about the PCA and would like to know more about what they believe, then by all means email me or give me a ring. I'd love to tell you more about it!

Hallelujah . . . Hallelujah . . . Hal . . le . . lu . . jah!
Maybe not quite as dramatic as Handel's Messiah, but close.
Good Friday indeed!
Blessings to you Matt.
Oh, and see you Sunday.
We're worse off in the SBC from losing you (and Jay the Bennett), but our loss is their gain.
Is this a loss to free agency, or can we in the SBC get anything in return?
For you two we ought to at least get a few prospects and/or draft picks!
Thanks for the kind words Gunny...
Looks to be a free agency deal...you don't hear much about the PCA guys leaving for the SBC...they seem to leave for the REC and the orthodox Church, but I don't hear much about them going to the SBC. However, if I hear of any PCA guys that want to get in on some SBC lovin', I'll send 'em your way.
Hey! You gonna join us the next time Jay sends out the Gingerman alert? All kidding aside, I've missed having you there the last few times. Sure looking forward to tipping a pint with you in the next few weeks.
Matt
